ABOUT CARLA FIGUEIRA DE MORISSON FARIA
I am a theoretical physicist specialized on strong-field and attosecond science, and a full professor at University College London. I was born in Belem (Amazon delta), completed my MSci in Physics at the University of São Paulo, São Carlos, Brazil, and earned my PhD in 1999 at the Max Born Institute, Berlin/Technical University of Berlin, Germany, on strong-field and attosecond physics. After several post-doctoral positions in Germany and Austria, I moved to UK as a University Research Fellow at the Department of Mathematics, City, University of London, where I became a Lecturer in 2006. Thereafter, in 2007, I took up a lectureship at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University College London (UCL), where I initiated and lead a research group. In 2013, I was promoted to Reader, and in 2018 to Professor of Physics. I have been the recipient of several awards, such as an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Advanced Research Fellowship in 2006. I have also been awarded the Institute of Physics Joseph Thomson Medal and Prize 2021.
My lines of research include ultrafast imaging of matter, novel approaches, e- e- correlation, high-harmonic generation & more. I have also worked on mathematical physics.

Beyond physics, I also actively promote women & minoritised groups in science (and the intersection thereof). I am a member of the The Inclusion Group for Equity in Research (TIGER) in STEMM and Chair the UCL Women in Physics Group, whose main coordinator is Abbie Bray.
